2008 FC Stars Blue teammates Alyna Eggleston and Brenna Gregorski are two of 90 players from across the country invited to attend next week’s inaugural ECNL Girls Conference Cup in Chula Vista, California.

The Conference Cup, formerly known as the ECNL National Training Camp, will host the nation’s top rising talent from the U14-U16 age groups in a tournament-style format to determine the first-ever Conference Cup Champion. The six teams competing will comprise of players representing all 11 ECNL Girls Conferences.

Eggleston & Gregorski are two of 16 players who will play for Team North. The team is made up of players from the ECNL New England, North Atlantic, and Ohio Valley Conferences. FC Stars is one of two clubs with multiple players selected for Team North at the Conference Cup.

The invitation to the ECNL Conference Cup is not the first minicamp or talent ID pool Eggleston & Gregorski have been selected to. Eggleston was one of 60 players from around the country to be invited to last September’s U-15 U.S. Women’s Youth National Team Talent ID Camp in San Diego. Meanwhile, Gregorski was one of four FC Stars players to be selected to January’s US Club Soccer’s id2 National Training Camp and was part of a Stars quartet named to April’s U.S. Women’s Youth National Team Talent ID East Regional MiniCamp in Maryland.

Eggleston, a goalkeeper, and Gregorski, a midfielder, played key roles for their FC Stars Blue team during the 2022/23 season, a year which culminated at the ECNL Girls Playoffs last June.

During the Conference Cup, the players will have the opportunity to compete in front of top colleges from around the nation, experience training by some of the top youth coaches in the country, and learn from a series of off-field presentations from experts.

According to the ECNL, players were selected for the Conference Cup by ECNL player identification staff through a combination of scouting and recommendations based on performances over the past several months, including performances in National Selection Games throughout the 2022-23 ECNL National Events.

The ECNL Girls Conference Cup will be held from Aug. 7 -11, 2023, at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California. The ECNL Conference Cup is free of charge for the players; the ECNL and Nike Soccer cover all of the costs associated with the camp, including hotel and ground transportation, meals, coaching, facilities, and equipment.
