Nine FC Stars boys and girls teams are headed to the Garden State to play at the ECNL Regional League Championship - Northeast this weekend in Somerset, New Jersey, tied for the second most teams for any club at the event. 

This weekend’s playoffs consist of the top four finishing teams from the U13-U19 age groups based on regular season standings. The girls playoffs are composed of teams from the ECNL Regional New England Conference & ECNL Regional North Atlantic Conference. Meanwhile, the boys playoffs are made up of the top four finishers in both the North & South Division of the ECNL Regional Northeast Conference. 

Each age group hosts eight teams this weekend competing in a single-elimination, bracket-style format for the right to move onto the ECNL Regional League Finals (excluding U19 teams) in Virginia next month. All teams are guaranteed at least two competitive games in New Jersey, with only the championship game being played on Sunday. 

Below is some brief information for each FC Stars team competing this weekend:

2010 ECNL RL Blue Girls: One of two 2010 ECNL RL teams competing this weekend, the girls finished the regular season with a 8-3-3 record and a second place finish in league play. Earlier this season they won their bracket at the PDA Spring Kick Off, the same location where they’ll play this weekend. 

2010 ECNL RL White Girls: An early finish to the regular season compared to other teams in the conference led to our girls playing the waiting game with an eye on the standings heading into June. Their hard work throughout the season paid off though, with their 5-4-5 record leading to a fourth place finish. 

2009 ECNL RL Boys: The first and last game of the regular season didn’t fall our boys’ way, but practically everything in between did. One loss in the middle 14 games of the ECNL Regional Northeast Conference regular season propelled the team to a third place finish.

2009 ECNL RL White Girls: A 5-6-3 record was enough for our ‘09 RL White team to clinch a trip to the Garden State. The team is coming off a successful Memorial Day weekend where they finished as champions of their Boston Bolts Shore Cup bracket.

2008 ECNL RL Blue Girls: Returning from the fall high school season for the first time proved no problem for our ‘08 RL Blue side. They came out firing with a seven-game unbeaten streak to start the season that fueled a top-four finish.

2007 ECNL RL Boys: Our only Regional League regular season champion on the boys side finished the entire regular season without a loss. A 12-0-4 record led to a comfortable first-place finish and a high seed at this weekend’s championship.

2006 ECNL RL Blue Girls: Our 2006 RL girls were another age group that placed both teams in the top four in the conference. This team aren’t strangers to the bright lights of an ECNL event - earlier this season they went to Florida for ECNL RL Florida.

2006 ECNL RL White Girls: Our other ‘06 RL side topped the conference with a first-place finish and a 8-2-4 record. Among notable individual accomplishments from players on the team was that of Soraya Ross, who was included on the Team West at the Continental Tire ECNL Regional League Selection Game at ECNL RL Florida. 

2004/05  ECNL RL Blue Girls: The U19 Massachusetts State Cup Finalists come to New Jersey on the back of their second place regular season finish. Similar to our other high school-aged Regional League teams, they’ve had the chance to impress college scouts at marquee events such as the Jefferson Cup and ECNL RL Florida.
