Soraya Ross, Lola Follansbee, and Lydia Leblanc were each named to play in ECNL Selection Games this weekend at ECNL Florida and ECNL RL Florida. 

Ross and Follansbee will take part in the Continental Tire ECNL Regional Selection Game held on Friday. The match will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Florida. The two FC Stars players will be representing Team West and make up a total of 34 participants taking part in the game. 

Ross, who plays for our ‘06 ECNL Regional White team, is looking forward to the chance to compete against her talented peers. 

“I am honored to have been nominated and ultimately chosen to showcase my abilities at such a high level,” she said. “I am very grateful for the opportunity and look forward to the experience.”

Follansbee, who plays for our ‘04/05 ECNL Regional Blue team, highlighted the impact of her teammates upon hearing the news. 

“I am excited for the opportunity to play in the game,” she said. “It is an honor to be recognized, but it is also a testament to my teammates, who push and challenge me everyday.”

The pair of 2024 high school graduates are currently uncommitted in relation to their college recruitment process. 

Leblanc, a midfielder for our ‘04/05 ECNL National Blue team, was one of 34 players chosen to play in the Continental Tire ECNL National Selection Game. She will also play for Team West. The match will take place on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. 

The UCONN commit spoke Thursday about the opportunity to play in the high-profile event. 

“I am excited to be able to play in the National Selection game and I look forward to the experience,” she said. 

According to the ECNL, players were selected for the games by the ECNL Player Identification staff through a combination of scouting and recommendations based on performances over the past several months. These athletes will not compete for their clubs on the day of their respective Selection Games in order to properly rest and prepare for the event.
