With over 325 teams spanning six age groups, the 2022 ECNL Girls National Playoffs were always going to match teams against fellow top competition. FC Stars met that challenge head-on in Redmond, Washington on Friday, going 1-1-2 across four games. 

The U15 FC Stars ECNL Blue team secured the lone win of the day. They continued their scoring exploits on the West Coast, defeating Mustang SC 4-0 to get their second win of the group stage. Their ten goals in two games support a healthy goal differential heading into matchday three. Not only do the 11 group winners advance to the knockout stage, but so too do the five-best second-place finishers. 

The U14 FC Stars ECNL Blue team (pictured below) moved to four points through two games of the playoffs, drawing 2-2 with CESA. The result, which Head Coach Kevin Mascary described as “disappointing,” leaves Stars needing a win in their final match to move on to the knockout stages. They’ll play Slammers FC HB KØGE on Sunday at 11 a.m. EST. 

While all other age groups had already kicked off, the U13 FC Stars ECNL Blue team played their opening match on Friday vs. Solar SC. Stars suffered a 3-1 defeat and will look forward to Sunday when they have a chance to get points on the board. They’ll play Real Colorado National that afternoon. 

U16 FC Stars ECNL Blue were eliminated from the Showcase Cup A on Friday, losing 3-0 to Cleveland Force. Stars had advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition following a 2-1 win vs. Alabama FC, but came up short against talented opposition. They’ll play in the consolation bracket tomorrow vs #1 seed Richmond United. 

A finals berth is up for grabs on Saturday in the Showcase Cup A. U17 FC Stars ECNL White play Challenge SC in the high-stakes affair. Stars defeated #1 seed Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Thursday to reach the last four.
