Now in its third decade, the  Gatorade Player of the Year award has become one of the most prestigious  accolades in high school sports. The Gatorade Player of the Year  program annually recognizes one award winner in the District of Columbia  and each of the 50 states that sanction high school boys football,  girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls soccer,  boys and girls basketball, boys baseball, girls softball, and boys and  girls track &amp; field. ESPN HS, the multimedia high school division of  ESPN, in partnership with The Gatorade Company, administers the  selection process for Gatorade State and National Player of the Year  awards.       <title>Stars Alum Brett Maron Headed for UEFA Women's Champions League Winner, 1FFC Turbine Potsdam</title>

        <![CDATA[<p><img width="615" height="369" align="middle" src="http://www.starsofma.org/imgs/brett_ashx.jpg" alt="" /></p><p>Brett Maron, goalkeeper on the 2005, U19 National Champion FC Stars team, is headed to Germany to join the two-time UEFA Womens Champions League and 5 time German Bundesliga winner, <a href="http://www.ffc-turbine.de/index02.php">1FFC Turbine Potsdam</a>.&nbsp; Potsdam has won the German Championship the last 3 years and is currently in the quarter finals of the 2012 UEFA Womens Champions League.&nbsp; After finisnhing her Stars career on a high note with National Championship success, Brett starred at Fairfield University before launching her professional carer that has included spells with Atlanta Beat and MagicJAcks in WPS and abroad with Afturelding FC in Iceland and  Kristianstads DFF in Sweden. Brett stopped by Stars training at Acton this week to work out with the Stars goalkeeper coach Matt Davison. We wish her well in her exciting new challenge!</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: 12px; "><span style="font-family: Arial; ">Kim Slade of the Stars U17ECNL team and Allison Mills of the Stars U18ECNL team were both selected to the <a href="http://www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com/home/591469.html">All-Event team</a> folloowing the ECNL event at Sanford Florida last December</span></span><span style="font-size: 12px; "><span style="font-family: Arial; ">. A total of 150 teams  from 47 ECNL Member Clubs participated in the event. </span></span><span style="font-size: 12px; "><span style="font-family: Arial; ">The  ECNL All-Event Teams are selected based upon nominations from coaches  and scouts based upon individual and team performances over the course  of the three-game event.&nbsp;At the Sanford event, thirteen clubs placed at  least a pair of players on All-Event Teams, including three players each  from Eclipse Select Soccer Club and Concorde Fire.&nbsp;A total of 29  different ECNL Member Clubs were represented among the 44 honored  players.&nbsp; <br /></span></span></p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Stars Alumnus, Stephanie McCaffrey of Boston College was among 30 players called up for training for the <a href="http://www.socceramerica.com/article/45155/us-under-20-womens-national-team-camp.html">U.S. under-20  women&rsquo;s national team camp</a> that begins Thursday in Chula Vista, Calif.<br /><br />The U-20s will play two 60-minute scrimmages against Shanghai Women&rsquo;s Football Club of China on Jan. 12 and Jan. 18.<br /><br />They will also take part in Concacaf qualifying for 2012 Under-20 Women&rsquo;s World Cup March 1-11 in Panama..</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Former '91 Stars player,<strong> Kate Sisk</strong> has been named  to the <a href="http://bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/high_school/index.php/2012/01/04/former-lincoln-sudbury-star-kate-sisk/">U-20 Puerto Rico women&rsquo;s national soccer team</a> as it heads to  Cuba to compete in the final stage of Caribbean qualifiers for the 2012  CONCACAF U20 Women&rsquo;s Championship.&nbsp; Puerto Rico ill face the U20 sides of Cuba, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago,  January 7-11, and, if succesful, will gain a spot at the CONCACAF U20 Women&rsquo;s  Championships in Panama, March 1-11.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Morgan Andrews of the U18 ECNL team has been selected as a finalist for <a href="http://www.socceramerica.com/article/45093/best-of-us-soccer-voting-opens.html">US Soccer&rsquo;s Young Athlete of the Year</a> award.&nbsp;  Fans can vote  for finalists in each of the four Athlete of the Year Awards -- Male,  Female, Young Male, Young Female -- as well as the 11 categories  comprising this year&rsquo;s Best of U.S. Soccer.<br /><br />(Click <a href="http://www.facebook.com/officialussoccer?sk=app_153503621416056">here</a> to vote.)<br /><br />Fans cans vote once a day from now until Friday, Jan. 13. FC Stars has had good success in the Region 1 Premier League in the past and we look forward to great competition in the Spring.&nbsp;</p>]]>
