Brett Maron, goalkeeper on the 2005, U19 National Champion FC Stars team, is headed to Germany to join the two-time UEFA Womens Champions League and 5 time German Bundesliga winner, 1FFC Turbine Potsdam.  Potsdam has won the German Championship the last 3 years and is currently in the quarter finals of the 2012 UEFA Womens Champions League.  After finisnhing her Stars career on a high note with National Championship success, Brett starred at Fairfield University before launching her professional carer that has included spells with Atlanta Beat and MagicJAcks in WPS and abroad with Afturelding FC in Iceland and Kristianstads DFF in Sweden. Brett stopped by Stars training at Acton this week to work out with the Stars goalkeeper coach Matt Davison. We wish her well in her exciting new challenge!

A total of 150 teams from 47 ECNL Member Clubs participated in the event. The ECNL All-Event Teams are selected based upon nominations from coaches and scouts based upon individual and team performances over the course of the three-game event. At the Sanford event, thirteen clubs placed at least a pair of players on All-Event Teams, including three players each from Eclipse Select Soccer Club and Concorde Fire. A total of 29 different ECNL Member Clubs were represented among the 44 honored players.

The U-20s will play two 60-minute scrimmages against Shanghai Women’s Football Club of China on Jan. 12 and Jan. 18.

They will also take part in Concacaf qualifying for 2012 Under-20 Women’s World Cup March 1-11 in Panama..

Fans cans vote once a day from now until Friday, Jan. 13. Online votes for the Athlete of the Year awards are equivalent to 50 percent of the total votes. The other 50 percent will be represented by votes compiled from members of the national media and U.S. Soccer representatives (from national team coaches to the National Board of Directors).

FC Stars has had good success in the Region 1 Premier League in the past and we look forward to great competition in the Spring.
